Pismo Beach, a picturesque coastal town in California, is not the primary destination for observing elephant seals. - Size: Adult male elephant seals are 14 to 16 feet in length and weigh 4,000 to 5,000 pounds. Females are much smaller, measuring 9 to 12 feet in length and weighing 900 to 1,800 pounds. Pups are 3 to 4 feet long at birth and weigh about 70 pounds.
- Migration: The northern elephant seal is known for its long-distance migration, with some individuals traveling over 13,000 miles in a year.
